Verizon says it will charge $10 a month for Apple’s new iPhone Handoff feature. This feature, introduced in iOS 27, lets users share one phone number between two active iPhones.
With this feature, subscribers can switch their active cellular service between devices. For example, you could use a compact iPhone Duo while out and then switch to an iPhone 19 Pro for work, all without changing SIM cards.
Verizon’s $10 monthly fee, or $120 per year, is twice as much as T-Mobile’s $5 monthly charge for the same service. AT&T, on the other hand, has not announced plans to offer this dual-device feature.
Even with the higher price, Verizon says subscribers will get full access to its 5G network on both devices. However, only one phone can have active cellular service at a time.
Verizon announced the pricing when it opened pre-orders for the new iPhone Duo, but the company only said the feature is “coming soon” and did not give a launch date.
To set up the feature, both phones need to run iOS 27, be signed in to the same Apple Account, and use eSIM activation. If you delete an eSIM, the monthly charge will not stop automatically—you’ll need to cancel it with your carrier.
