The Philadelphia Eagles coaches are facing growing criticism as the team struggles through a difficult stretch marked by injuries and disappointing offensive performances. However, veteran NFL analyst Ray Didinger believes the coaching staff deserves more consideration before being blamed for Philadelphia’s problems.
His assertion comes after the Eagles suffered another setback against the Carolina Panthers. They have now lost four consecutive games, while injuries continue to affect key positions across the roster, a situation that informs Didinger’s take.
Ray Didinger Questions Blame Directed at Eagles Coaches
Speaking alongside Joe DeCamara on Sports Radio WIP, Didinger acknowledged the difficult circumstances the coaches face. He argued that the depleted roster has made their jobs considerably harder, complicating efforts to restore the team’s early-season form. He concluded that the Eagles’ coaching staff is working under difficult conditions, making it unfair to attribute the team’s struggles entirely to coaching decisions. He made the comments during a recent episode of the Sports Radio WIP show.
“To lay this all on the coaches, I don’t think is fair.”
Joe DeCamara and Ray Didinger agree that the Eagles' coaches are in a horrific spot dealing with the talent on their depleted roster right now.

The Eagles have been dealing with significant personnel problems throughout the season. Several players have missed time, forcing the coaching staff to adjust its plans and rely on less experienced options.
The situation became even more complicated when quarterback Jalen Hurts was placed on injured reserve. Further medical evaluations revealed deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in both lungs, according to a joint statement from the Eagles and his agent on Monday.
Hurts is receiving treatment and is expected to make a full recovery. However, he cannot participate in contact activities while taking blood thinners, leaving Philadelphia without its starting quarterback for the foreseeable future.
Tanner McKee has taken over at quarterback, but replacing Hurts presents a significant challenge for an offense already struggling to find consistency. The coaching staff must now adjust its approach while managing uncertainty across other positions.
The Eagles have also dealt with injuries affecting their offensive line and receiving options. The absence of key contributors has purportedly limited the team’s ability to maintain continuity and execute a significant portion of its game plan.
There have been some encouraging developments, however. The Eagles recently opened practice windows for defensive back Jakorian Bennett, tight end Grant Calcaterra, offensive lineman Landon Dickerson, and tight end Eli Stowers. Their potential returns could provide useful reinforcements as the season progresses.
However, opening a practice window does not guarantee an immediate return to game action. The coaching staff must still evaluate each player’s readiness before making roster decisions.
The Eagles now face the challenge of finding solutions while key players recover. The coaching staff must improve the team’s execution and help the players available to the team perform more consistently. For Didinger, the central point is that criticism should take into account the circumstances surrounding the team. The Eagles need answers, but blaming the coaching staff alone overlooks the personnel challenges shaping their difficult season.
