The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, says the design for the proposed Lagos Airport monorail has been approved, with the project expected to connect the Ikeja Railway Station to the new terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
Keyamo disclosed this in a post on Tuesday, October 20, following a review of the design alongside the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and engineering teams from both agencies.
The minister said the monorail would provide a link between the Ikeja Railway Station, where the Lagos Red Line terminates, and Terminal 1 of the international airport, which is currently being reconstructed.
He listed five stations along the proposed route as Ikeja Station, Domestic Airport Station, Beesam Station, Toll Gate Station and MMIA Airport Station.

According to Keyamo, the project forms part of the ongoing reconstruction of the airport, which serves as one of Nigeria’s major aviation gateways.
“The monorail is an integral part of the reconstruction of the nation’s major gateway at the MMIA in Lagos,” the minister said.
He added that the design appraisal and approval involved officials and engineering teams from the ministry and FAAN.
