Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, have rallied support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing development projects being executed across the state.
Sani, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr AbdulKadir Meyere, spoke during the inspection, groundbreaking and commissioning of projects in Makarfi and Kudan Local Government Areas on Friday.
The governor said the projects demonstrated the benefits of collaboration between the Federal Government and the Kaduna State Government, with Abbas playing a significant role in facilitating development interventions.
He urged residents to appreciate the efforts of both levels of government by supporting leaders committed to meeting their needs.
The projects included the groundbreaking for male and female hostels at Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences and Technology, Makarfi; the construction of the Makarfi bypass, linking Anguwan Gari to Anguwan Hudu; and the commissioning of a 20-bed primary healthcare centre.
Other projects included a block of 10 classrooms, offices, toilets and furniture at LGEA Primary School, Tashar Yari, Makarfi.
In his remarks, Abbas disclosed that more than 80 projects would be executed across seven local government areas in Zone One, excluding Zaria, in 2026.
He said, “The projects will address critical needs in education, healthcare, road infrastructure and enterprise development.”
According to him, the hostel project was necessary because the institution admitted more than 1,000 students during the 2024/2025 academic session.
Abbas said the Makarfi bypass would “improve connectivity, reduce travel time and transport costs, and facilitate the movement of agricultural produce to markets”.
He urged contractors to execute the projects according to specifications and within stipulated timelines. He also called on residents to monitor construction work and protect completed facilities.
Meanwhile, Abbas and Meyere visited their alma mater, Government Secondary School, Makarfi, where they pledged support for its development.
Abbas said October 2026 marked 50 years since he enrolled at the school in October 1976. He announced plans to provide solar-powered streetlights and renovate key facilities.
He urged the students to embrace “honesty, hard work and transparency”, adding that discipline and perseverance could help them overcome difficult circumstances and achieve success.
Meyere commended the Speaker for his planned interventions, including the renovation of key facilities and the donation of a bus to the school.
