“Below Deck Mediterranean” star Gael Cameron posted a moving message as a domestic violence survivor, nearly one year after her ex Nathan Gallagher’s arrest.
The 30-year-old posted an Instagram Reel on Wednesday documenting her visit to the powerful Sweethearts art installation in Sydney.
“56 hearts,” she explained to her followers. “One for each woman who life ended at the hands of someone they once chose to trust this year alone in Australia.”
Each heart featured a different phrase, ranging from “boys will be boys” and “she coulda left” to “she winds him up” and “just a one off.”
The reality star, who set the upload to Demi Lovato’s “Skyscraper,” noted that she knew her “heart would hurt” seeing the art and, sure enough, her “eyes ran and [her] heart broke into a million pieces” upon arrival.
“Knowing how close I came to being one of those hearts I cried,” Cameron wrote. “Not for myself. I cried for the families, and for those who lost their lives at the hands of another. But also for the women still there. Still stuck. Whose fate still feels out of their own hands.”
Gallagher, notably, was arrested in December 2025 and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally choking a person without consent and common assault.
The news did not come to light publicly until the following August.
While Cameron was not named in initial reports on the alleged assault, Gallagher mentioned his ex, with whom he welcomed 1-year-old son Kayden, in his subsequent statement to Rolling Stone.
“I don’t believe it is fair for one version of events to be presented publicly as though it is the complete story when there is evidence that may materially contradict or provide significant context to that account,” he said at the time — while admitting he’d “made mistakes” he’d “take responsibility for.”
Cameron, for her part, released a powerful statement in September about navigating her “tough season” of life.
“I have been using the past few months to quietly heal and rebuild for little man and myself,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “I’m really working on finding myself again and moving forward.”
She added in her Instagram caption on Wednesday that “those who understand, understand” and that she hopes “those who can’t relate” to domestic violence victims can try to empathize.
“Something needs to change,” the Bravolebrity continued. “Something needs to give. I’ve sat afraid for long enough, but the fear I feel is what allows this to keep happening.”
In addition to thanking the artist and sharing hotlines for domestic abuse victims, Cameron concluded with a message to women “who can’t share this, can’t like it, can’t save it, can’t have it sitting in their phone.”
She told them, “I have hope that someday you get to say to yourself the same thing I say to myself everyday day that keeps me going. And is the reason you see me on here grateful for everyday I get to be here.”
Cameron and Gallagher both appeared on Season 11 of “Below Deck Mediterranean” this year — but Bravo has since severed ties with the latter.
Captain Sandy Yawn recently told Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” hosts that Gallagher has “stop[ped] drinking” and is “get[ting] help.”
