He explained that the suspects lured the students into a passage, threatened them with a knife and dispossessed them of two mobile phones valued at N50,000.
The statement read, “The suspects lured the innocent students into a passage, brought out a sharp knife, threatened to stab them, and dispossessed them of a Tecno Spark 6 phone valued at Forty-two Thousand Naira (N42,000) and a Lesia keypad phone valued at Eight Thousand Naira (N8,000).”
The police spokesman added that the students’ alertness led to the arrest of one of the suspects, while his accomplices escaped.
“The courage and alertness of the students who raised alarm led to the arrest of Zakariya’u Musa, while his two accomplices escaped,” he stated.
He said the command had intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
In another development, the police arrested a 20-year-old man, Isa Moh’d, of Abujan Kwata, Bauchi, in connection with the alleged murder of Salim Moh’d.
According to the statement, the suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased to death on October 18 following a misunderstanding.
“The suspect was trailed and arrested on 19th October, 2026, at about 1320hrs,” the statement added.
Habib said the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for discreet investigation and prosecution.
Similarly, the command arrested a 28-year-old woman, Sara Chikodi, of Bayan Gari, Bauchi, over alleged illicit drug trafficking.
The statement said she was arrested at about 7 pm on October 19 following credible intelligence.
“Upon search, ten (10) sachets of dry leaves suspected to be Colorado/Indian Hemp and one pinch of Methamphetamine, popularly known as Ice, were recovered from her,” the police said.

The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their gallantry and prompt response, while appreciating members of the public for providing timely information.
The statement quoted the commissioner as assuring residents that the command remained committed to protecting lives and property.
He further warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state, saying the command would not relent in its efforts to make Bauchi uncomfortable for them.
