Animal lovers with a few hours to spare are being urged to help care for street cat colonies in and around Quesada. Romalia is looking for dependable volunteers who can provide regular help or occasional holiday cover, ensuring cats living in managed colonies continue to receive food, fresh water and basic checks throughout the year.
Volunteers needed for regular and holiday cover
Romalia is appealing for reliable people who can spare some daytime hours to make sure cats living in managed colonies continue receiving the food, water and attention they need.
The organisation is looking for people able to help on a regular basis, but volunteers who can only offer occasional assistance are also welcome.
Romalia is particularly interested in finding volunteers who can provide cover when regular carers are away, helping ensure the colonies are never left without support.
Duties and times can be agreed in advance, making the opportunity suitable for people able to help regularly as well as those who may only have a few days available during the year.
Simple duties make a difference to street cats
The work is straightforward but important. Volunteers prepare food, provide fresh water and check the cats to make sure they appear healthy and well.
A little friendly attention for cats comfortable with human contact is also welcome.
No specialist experience has been requested, but volunteers should be dependable, comfortable around animals and able to take responsibility for the cats during their agreed visits.
By providing reliable cover, volunteers can help make sure the routine care of the colonies continues even when their usual carers are unavailable.
Volunteers will need their own transport
Anyone joining the volunteer team will need their own car, as mobility is essential for reaching the colonies in and around Quesada.
English-speaking volunteers are welcome, and the flexible arrangements mean people do not necessarily need to make a major year-round commitment to get involved.
Anyone interested in helping care for the local street cat colonies can contact Romalia directly through its Facebook page or call (+34) 673 844 303.
