Human rights lawyer and activist, Chidi Odinkalu, has come under fire for speculating that the speech by President Bola Tinubu during the inauguration of the APC Presidential campaign council was pre-recorded.
According to Odinkalu on his X handle, President Tinubu was not physically present at the event, but a pre-recorded speech was played.
TVC News Online reported that the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council were inaugurated in Abuja on Wednesday.
Speaking at the inauguration, Tinubu charged members to take the party’s message to Nigerians across states and local government areas.
Odinkalu, while sharing a clip from the event, wrote on X: “It does not require close study of this clip to understand that this was a pre-recorded address. @officialABAT was not at this venue in person. The transitions are unnatural, the camera work is a production & everything is an orchestration. The parties to the crime are many. Let them produce the clip of his promenade & a wide angle.”

Reacting to the post, the president’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, wrote: “You’ve let partisanship cloud your vision and judgment. You are now a member of the internet mob, eager to disregard the truth and push false narratives online. You should be ashamed of this post.”

An X user, Olugbenga, questioned the level of pettiness by Odinkalu. He wrote: “Haba, can you imagine this? What level of pettiness is this again? He is live there speaking, but it was pre-proceeded in your brain? Hahaha,”
Further confirming the president’s presence, another user, Dr Akanji Olatunde, asked: “If I were you, I would delete the post and move on to some other engagements. If President @officialABAT wasn’t there, who did Prof Soludo @CCSoludo, the Anambra State Governor, shake hands with? Everything is not propaganda.”
Hammed Sulaiman, on his part, wrote: “Never underestimate the power of hatred o. It can make a professor do stupid things.”
