Vietnamese beauty queen Trinh Mỹ Anh, who was reportedly stripped of her Miss Earth Water 2025 title, has publicly apologized following a controversy involving leaked private group conversations that allegedly contained offensive remarks about fellow beauty contestants, judges, and personalities in the pageant industry.
The controversy has drawn attention within the international pageant community, placing the former titleholder under scrutiny as discussions surrounding professionalism, accountability, and respect among beauty queens continue.
According to circulating reports, the controversy began when screenshots of private group conversations surfaced online, allegedly showing negative comments directed at participants in Miss Universe Vietnam 2026, members of the judging panel, and other pageant personalities.
The leaked messages reportedly triggered criticism from pageant followers, prompting Trinh Mỹ Anh to address the issue publicly.
Rather than dismissing the controversy, the Vietnamese beauty queen acknowledged the impact of her words and expressed regret over the disappointment and hurt caused by the incident.
In her public apology, she stated:
“I take responsibility for what I said and for the hurt I may have caused. I understand that no circumstances or emotions can justify my thoughtless remarks.”
Her statement reflected an acknowledgment that personal frustrations or emotions should not excuse comments that could negatively affect other individuals.
She also extended an apology to those directly affected by the controversy, including supporters who had previously admired and defended her.
“I sincerely apologize to everyone affected by this incident, including those who were hurt by the leaked messages and the supporters who may now feel disappointed in me.”
The controversy has become particularly significant because of Trinh Mỹ Anh's previous association with Miss Earth, an international beauty competition that emphasizes environmental advocacy, leadership, and social responsibility.
As a former international titleholder, her actions have attracted attention beyond Vietnam, particularly among pageant followers who expect beauty queens to demonstrate professionalism and respect both publicly and privately.
While the circumstances surrounding her reported dethronement have generated discussion, the materials provided do not establish whether the leaked conversations were the official reason for the loss of her Miss Earth Water title.
In another part of her apology, Trinh Mỹ Anh acknowledged that rebuilding public trust would require more than simply expressing regret.
“I do not expect everyone to simply forgive and forget. What I need to do now is reflect on my actions, learn from my mistakes, and make genuine changes moving forward.”
Her remarks suggest a willingness to accept criticism and recognize the importance of personal growth following the controversy.
The incident also raises broader questions about the responsibilities of public figures in an era when private digital conversations can quickly become subjects of public discussion.
For beauty queens, whose platforms often involve promoting empowerment, unity, and positive social values, maintaining respectful relationships with fellow contestants and industry professionals remains an important aspect of their public roles.
As the controversy continues to attract attention, Trinh Mỹ Anh's apology marks an attempt to address the situation and move forward.
Whether her statement will help restore the confidence of disappointed supporters remains to be seen.
For now, the former Miss Earth Water titleholder faces the challenge of demonstrating through her future actions that the lessons expressed in her apology will translate into meaningful change.
The controversy serves as a reminder that beyond crowns, titles, and international recognition, the true measure of a beauty queen also lies in her character, accountability, and respect for others.
