She will lead a Digital, Media and Publicity Team comprising Fredah Onduso, Abigael Gikonyo, and Charity Waweru. The movement indicated that further appointments would be announced in due course.
Gikonyo shared her reflections on the appointment via her X account on the same day, recounting how she and Waweru had been having lunch together when they received the news. She said the two first offered a prayer of gratitude before the weight of the moment set in.
"We received the news of our appointment together, and we first said a prayer of gratitude, and we felt so humbled and cried a little," Gikonyo wrote.

A movement built by Women
Gikonyo credited Sifuna and the broader Linda Mwananchi leadership for their continued trust and mentorship, noting that the appointment felt particularly meaningful given the personal journey she and her colleagues had shared in building the movement from the ground up.
She also paid tribute to the campaign's behind-the-scenes team, describing the young men and women who work late into the night as "the soul and centrepiece of this movement."
The significance of the appointments was not lost on observers. The interim secretariat is composed entirely of women, a fact Gikonyo highlighted with pride, writing that it was "humbling to serve with my fellow women. Mbele Kuzuri tena sana."
The Linda Mwananchi Movement has positioned Sifuna, a former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) secretary general, as a presidential candidate ahead of Kenya's 2027 General Election.
