Things in baseball as a whole are uncertain in 2027, but that uncertainty is even stronger when it comes to the Los Angeles Angels. After officially declining to bring back manager Kurt Suzuki for a second season and committing to finding a new general manager, there are key roles in this franchise that will see change over the next couple of months. Finalizing the sale of the club early next year only adds to that unpredictability.
The Angels could be aggressive in free agency after a 100-loss season, or they could wait until next offseason to really kick things into the next gear once the new ownership is settled in. That leaves fans with only what the club has at this moment when it comes to the 2027 campaign.
After having one of the worst-ranked farm systems even at the start of last season, the Angels now have a top-half system full of prospects. Which of these prospects could get the call-up in 2027? Let’s take a look.
The outfield in Anaheim has a hole or two at the moment, and with Mike Trout moving to the corner outfield for next season, center field is an area that needs to be addressed. No. 6 prospect Nelson Rada will likely end up playing out there at some point in 2027 after his impressive 2026.
Rada slashed .278/.376/.363 with the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees last season. He isn't the type to smash balls, but he does project to have good contact tools while being a plus defender out in center. At 21 years old, Rada has played five seasons in the minors after signing out of Venezuela in 2022. If the Halos don’t make a move for a proven center fielder this offseason, expect a Rada call-up sooner rather than later.
The Halos’ No. 2 overall selection in 2025, RHP Tyler Bremner, is also likely to take the mound at the major league level at some point next season. He started in High-A last season before spending the last bit in Double-A.
Despite the promotion, Bremner held batters to a .207 average and posted a 4.44 ERA across five starts. His 36 strikeouts in 24 ⅓ innings in Double-A shine a light on the 22-year-old’s potential on the mound. Given the rise of young arms in the Angels rotation, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bremner added to that list during the 2027 season.
There are several of the organization's top prospects who could have a chance at debuting next season, including the No. 34 prospect in baseball, infielder Arjun Nimmala. Though he just came over a few months ago via trade, his play in the minors might force the hand of the Angels' front office, which will be looking for infield help for 2027.
Catcher Jacob Cozart, outfielder Raudi Rodriguez, and RHP Dylan Jordan are just a few names that could end up getting the call in 2027. Ultimately, the Angels’ approach this offseason will determine how likely it is for these youngsters to get the call, but there will be some MLB debuts by the time next season is all said and done. With the recent rise of their farm system, I hope the front office doesn't force anything and halt the development of their top guys.
