Plateau: Gov Mutfwang urges Christians to remain united in faith, purpose

The Governor made the call during the 115th anniversary celebration of First Baptist Church, Adebayo Street, Jos, held under the theme “Advancing Through Impactful Celebration.”

Governor Mutfwang praised the church’s 115 years of service to God and humanity, expressing hope that its legacy would continue to inspire spiritual growth and meaningful social contributions.

“115 years is a significant accomplishment, and we pray that the Lord will complete this good work in Jesus’ name. As a result, feasting on Scripture is the right thing to do and the correct path to take. Only by preaching Christ and Him crucified will the Gospel thrive. “Nothing more, nothing less,” he stated.

He also congratulated Reverend David Olushola Idowu, the newly elected President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, and prayed that his leadership would usher in a revival that would spread throughout the Baptist Convention and the wider Body of Christ.

The Governor prayed, “May the Lord bring a revival through your hands that will spread beyond the Baptist Convention and into the Body of Christ.”

Earlier, in his sermon, Reverend Idowu focused on Psalm 100:4. He admonished the congregation to continually seek God’s presence as a pathway to spiritual growth and advancement.

Idowu also identified enlightenment, revelation and renewed strength as blessings believers experience in God’s presence, encouraging the church to remain committed to advancing God’s kingdom and impacting lives.

The anniversary featured praise and worship, special thanksgiving, prayers, goodwill messages and the cutting of the anniversary cake, with members of the church, past and present pastors, government officials and other dignitaries in attendance.
