Udayapur, Oct 14: An adult male wild elephant has been found dead in a paddy field in Belka Municipality-1.
The elephant, aged approximately 20–25 years and known locally as 'Sano Dare', was discovered dead in the field on Tuesday.
Chief of the Division Forest Office in Udayapur, Gajendra Shrestha, stated that the wild elephant was found in a paddy field located about one kilometer away from the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve. The elephant had been reportedly inhabiting the reserve area for over a year.
Preliminary assessment suggests the elephant may have died from natural causes. The actual cause of death will be determined following a post-mortem examination conducted by the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, Shrestha said. (RSS)
