The Prime Minister’s Youth Program is preparing to distribute 500,000 Chromebooks to students across Pakistan as part of a wider push to improve access to digital learning and technology.
According to the program, the initiative is aimed at helping students access online education, research tools, digital resources, and other technology-based learning opportunities.
The Chromebook initiative is also linked to the government’s broader Digital Pakistan vision, which focuses on expanding the use of technology in education and other sectors.
Chromebooks are lightweight laptops powered by Google’s ChromeOS operating system. They mainly rely on web-based applications and can be used for online classes, research, document preparation, assignments, and other educational tasks.
Students interested in the scheme can check their eligibility and application details through the official Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme portal managed by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC).
Who Can Apply for the PM Youth Chromebook Scheme?
Eligibility under the scheme depends on the student’s education board and academic performance.
For education boards in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, top-performing Grade 9 (SSC-I) students from government and public schools are eligible for consideration.
For Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, top-performing students from both Grade 9 (SSC-I) and Grade 10 (SSC-II) are being considered.
Students from private schools are not included under the eligibility criteria currently published on the official portal.
How to Apply for PM Youth Chromebook Scheme
Eligible students can submit their applications through the official Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme portal at pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk.
The entire process takes place online, and students should keep their academic and identification details ready before starting the application.
Step 1: Visit the Official Portal
Students should first open the official PM Youth Chromebook Scheme website at pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk.
Applicants should use the official portal only to avoid entering personal information on unofficial websites.
Step 2: Select Your Education Board
After opening the portal, applicants must select the education board under which they appeared in their examination.
Students should choose the correct board because the system checks their information against records submitted by that board.
Step 3: Enter Your Identification Details
Students must then provide their identification information. The portal allows applicants to search their record using a CNIC or B-Form number, roll number, or registration number.
Applicants should enter the same information that appears in their official education board record. Entering incorrect or mismatched details may prevent the system from locating the student’s record.
Step 4: Enter Your Date of Birth
Applicants must also provide their date of birth. Students should enter the date exactly as it appears in their official academic or identification record.
This information helps the portal verify the applicant and match the submitted details with the data received from the relevant education board.
Step 5: Click on “Find My Record”
After entering all required information, students should click the “Find My Record” button.
The portal will then search the database using the details provided by the applicant. It will compare the information with records submitted by the relevant education board.
Step 6: Check the Record Displayed on the Portal
If the system finds a matching record, it will display the student’s available information. Applicants should review these details carefully before proceeding.
Students should make sure that their name, school, examination information, and other available details are correct and match their official records.
Step 7: Try Another Search Option if the Record Is Not Found
If the portal does not find a record using the student’s CNIC or B-Form number, the applicant can try again using the roll number or registration number.
Students who still cannot locate their record should contact their respective education board, as the portal relies on data provided by the boards.
Step 8: Continue With the Application
Once the portal successfully identifies the student’s record, the applicant can proceed with the remaining application requirements, including providing the required information and uploading the necessary documents.
Students should review all details carefully before final submission because the official instructions state that applicants cannot directly edit their information after submitting the application.
Check Your Student Record
If the system finds a matching record, the portal displays the student’s information. This may include the applicant’s name, school, and examination marks.
Students should review these details carefully before continuing with the application. The information should match the records maintained by the education board.
If the portal does not locate a student’s record through the CNIC or B-Form number, the applicant can try searching with a roll number or registration number.
Students who still cannot find their record should contact their respective education board for assistance.
Documents Required for the Chromebook Application
Students whose records appear on the portal must upload several documents to complete their application.
Applicants need a recent colour photograph, their relevant SSC-I or SSC-II mark sheet, an attested copy of their CNIC or B-Form, and an attested copy of their father’s or guardian’s CNIC.
The portal requires applicants to upload a recent photograph in JPG or PNG format. Students can submit the remaining documents in JPG, PNG, or PDF format.
Each uploaded file must remain within the 300 KB size limit mentioned on the official portal. Applicants should make sure that all documents remain clear and readable after resizing.
How to Submit the Application
After uploading the required documents, students should review all personal information and supporting documents before submitting the form.
Applicants should pay particular attention to their name, identification details, school information, examination record, and uploaded documents.
Once a student submits the application, the portal does not allow the applicant to edit the information directly.
After successful submission, the system generates a reference number and provides an application slip.
Students should download and keep the slip because it serves as a record of their submission.
Can a Student Submit More Than One Application
The official application instructions allow each student to submit only one application.
Students should therefore avoid submitting incomplete or incorrect information. They should review the entire application carefully before completing the final submission.
What If Your Record Is Missing
A missing record does not necessarily mean that the student has entered the wrong information.
The portal uses data supplied by education boards. If the system cannot locate a student through a CNIC or B-Form number, the applicant should try using the roll number or registration number.
If none of these options work, the student should contact the relevant board because IBCC relies on data provided by those boards for the scheme.
Is There a Deadline for Applications
The official scheme portal does not currently display one nationwide application deadline for all education boards.
Individual boards may issue their own schedules or instructions. Students should therefore regularly check announcements from their respective board to confirm the last date for registration and any possible extension.
Applicants should avoid relying on unofficial social media posts for deadlines because dates may differ between boards.
