Solmeria, an online marketplace for selling solar and battery energy storage systems directly to buyers, is now listing projects in Romania alongside offers in France and Italy.
European renewable energy marketplace Solmeria has expanded to include solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Romania.
The marketplace, which spans ground-mounted PV, agriPV, C&I solar and BESS projects at all stages of development, initially went live in July with 25 projects in France.
It added its first two listings in Romania earlier this month. The two offers are both agrivoltaic installations with four-hour storage systems located in Cluj county, northwestern Romania. They have a combined capacity of 6.2 MW of solar and a total BESS capacity of 6 MW/24 MWh.
Maxime Courtaigne, CEO of Solmeria, told pv magazine the Romania listings now also include a ready-to-build hybrid park of 55 MWp with 193 MWh of storage. “The first listings have already received around ten expressions of interest from buyers,” he added.
Created at the request of developers, the marketplace is aiming to bring liquidity to listed projects, accelerate transactions and reduce intermediation costs. Commission is only payable only upon successful completion of a sale and is significantly lower than that of a traditional merger and acquisitions agency, according to previous reports.
Courtaigne also told pv magazine 18 of the 25 French projects listed in the marketplace are now in sale discussions. The marketplace also opened in the Italian market in September.
He added there are more than 300 registered acquirers to date, the majority of which are French and Italian, with “dozens more joining every month.”
“France showed us that selling projects one by one to the right buyer works at every size: a 1 MWp project drew 35 expressions of interest,” Courtaigne said.
“Romania is on the same path, with around ten already on our first listings and a 55 MWp hybrid park now on the platform. Sell one project to the right buyer, and the portfolio will follow.”
