Three students — Devika, Gopika and Ijaz — were killed after a speeding Mini Cooper rammed into their scooter near Kochi international airport in Kerala’s Ernakulam district. Police have booked the teenage driver, Suhail Sajeev, for culpable homicide and other provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. According to police, he admitted to consuming alcohol before the crash, while investigators are examining whether intoxicating substances were involved. Police say further action will depend on test results and forensic reports. The tragedy has triggered serious questions about road safety, accountability and allegations that influence could help the accused escape justice.
