The Minnesota Vikings worked out a veteran wide receiver for the second straight week, once again raising concerns about the current state of the room.
JuJu Smith-Schuster, 29, worked out for the Vikings on Monday. The 2017 second-round pick spent the last two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, catching 51 passes for 576 yards and three touchdowns.
This comes one week after Minnesota signed Odell Beckham Jr. to its practice squad. Speculation suggested that Beckham's inclusion could signal that the team might look to move Jauan Jennings, who signed in May to a one-year, $8 million deal.
Jennings didn't register a catch on Sunday and has caught only two passes for nine yards in the four games he's played. Smith-Schuster's workout could suggest that the Vikings are seeking a better fit in their offense over Jennings.
Jordan Addison missed Sunday's game with a hamstring injury, so Smith-Schuster could be the insurance if Addison can't return immediately after the bye week.
In nine seasons, Smith-Schuster has caught 481 passes for 5,624 yards and 33 touchdowns. He was selected to the Pro Bowl following the 2018 season.
