The Caretaker Governor of Central Equatoria State, Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, has discussed plans to establish a sugar cane factory in the state with investors from MD Trade.
Governor Jadalla met the delegation, led by the company’s Managing Director, Fluny Mibaratua, on Wednesday.
The investors said their visit aimed to explore opportunities in sugar cane and stevia production, improve agricultural productivity and identify sustainable investment opportunities in the state.
Governor Jadalla welcomed the initiative and pledged his administration’s commitment to creating a favourable investment environment through public-private partnerships.
He said agriculture remains a key priority of his administration, adding that the government plans to revive agricultural cooperative societies to improve farmers’ economic well-being.
The governor also directed the Ministry of Agriculture to work closely with the company to conduct feasibility studies and experimental activities before the project begins.
He reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing the initiative as part of the state government’s broader development agenda.
For his part, MD Trade Managing Director Fluny Mibaratua thanked the state leadership for the warm reception and expressed optimism about the potential of the sugar cane industry to contribute to economic growth and development.
The proposed investment is expected to create opportunities for agricultural development, support local farmers and strengthen the state’s economy, subject to the outcome of the feasibility studies and the project’s implementation.
