Kakao (035720) unveiled its plans for an "AI for Everyone" service that the company aims to launch officially by the end of this year. The service is designed so that users can ask everyday questions within KakaoTalk and move seamlessly from making a reservation to using the service itself.
At its if(kakao)26 developer conference on the 14th, Kakao held a session titled "If We Gather Good AI, Will It Become AI for Everyone?" and introduced the direction, partnership structure and future plans for the AI for Everyone service being prepared by the Kakao consortium.
AI for Everyone is an AI service that users can access easily through KakaoTalk or directly from a web page. It aims to build an ecosystem in which companies and developers participate with specialized agents and tools. The goal is to let users access services easily without having to phrase their requests in perfectly formed sentences.
For example, if a user asks about exhibitions worth visiting and sets conditions such as dates, travel distance and companions, the service can suggest nearby restaurant options and complete a reservation all within KakaoTalk. Before execution steps such as a booking, the service confirms the conditions and the amount with the user again.
The service is being built through a partnership structure involving 34 companies and institutions. Kakao handles the service and the management of AI workflows, while LG Uplus is responsible for the model and efficient operation of graphics processing units (GPUs). LG AI Research provides capabilities from its EXAONE model.
The company is also expanding its external ecosystem. Of the roughly 500 tools registered on Kakao's PlayMCP, selected tools will be offered after verification and review, and over the longer term the company plans to build a structure in which usage results translate into revenue.
Kakao will confirm the user experience through beta testing and then expand the service in stages. Along with the official launch at the end of this year, it is targeting 5 million monthly active users (MAU). From 2027, it will also introduce in stages a "one agent per person" feature, in which users define working methods and roles through conversation.
Yoo Yong-hwa, performance leader at Kakao, said, "We are drawing up a roadmap to advance services and operational experience proven in daily life into agents that help individuals with their work, and to move toward broad use across organizations and industries."
