Batches of Ready Brek Original and Tesco porridge have been recalled by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) due to the presence of flour beetles.
In the recall notice, issued on Tuesday, the FSAI said the products have been rendered “unfit for human consumption”.
The small reddish-brown beetles are about 3-4mm long and feed on flour and cereal debris.
The recall involves batches of Tesco Super Smooth Porridge 750g and Ready Brek Original, 450g and 750g.
Retailers have been requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale.
