Lotte Department Store is expanding the benefits of its membership card for foreign tourists.
The retailer said on the 12th that it is launching the "Lotte Tourist Membership x Check-in Seoul" card, which foreign customers can obtain on the spot. The card offers a 5% base discount, plus an additional 10% reward from Check-in Seoul on purchases of 100,000 won or more.
On top of existing affiliate benefits, including a 10% discount at Lotte Duty Free and a 7% discount at Lotte Mart, the card now provides benefits at about 70 partner merchants in beauty, food and beverage and culture, including Off Beauty, Nunew, hanbok rental shops and D Museum.
Lotte Department Store first introduced the Lotte Tourist Membership Card, a shopping benefits card for foreign customers, at its main store in Seoul in December last year. Customers can obtain it with only a passport, and it provides department store shopping discounts, discounts at Lotte affiliates and a transit card function. As use by foreign tourists grew after the launch, issuance points expanded from the main store to the Jamsil store and the Busan main store. Cumulative issuance has surpassed 250,000 cards.
Alongside the membership card, Lotte Department Store is broadening benefits tailored to foreign customers in areas such as travel and tourism. Its main store has partnered with Korean Air to offer exclusive discount vouchers through the end of this year to foreign customers flying European and Southeast Asian routes. At the end of next month, the company plans to open a "Foreign Customer Concierge Lounge" on the first floor of the main store to provide tourist information and shopping services. The main store operates six self-service kiosks for the "Lotte Tourist Membership x Check-in Seoul" card on the first basement, first and ninth floors. The company plans to consider adding more depending on demand.
"We will continue to identify services that foreign customers need, making the main store a shopping destination they want to visit again," said Kang Woo-jin, head of the Lotte Department Store main store.
