(ANSA) - ROME, 15 OTT - Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin said Thursday he was concerned for the health of Pope Leo XIV after his lung-cancer surgery but trusted his doctors at Rome's premier Gemelli Hospital.
"I remain concerned, because I am truly, enormously sorry for what has happened," Parolin said on the sidelines of an event hosted by the Iraqi Embassy to the Holy See, while speaking about the 71-year-old American pontiff's health as he awaits biopsies to see if the cancer has spreda from a malignant lump that was removed Tuesday.
"But I trust the information provided in the medical bulletins, and therefore I am hopeful that this situation can be resolved as soon as possible." The sporty Chicago-born Leo is making a steady recovery and has already started working again in his hospital room. (ANSA).
