The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) arrested a commercial inspector and a gangman of the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) in Coimbatore district on the charge of demanding and accepting ₹1,000 as a bribe for a power connection.
According to the DVAC, Sureshkumar, a resident of Nallatipalayam near Kinathukadavu, had submitted an application at office of the TNPDCL Assistant Engineer at Thamaraikulam for a three-phase electricity service connection for a 7 HP motor to be installed on his father’s agricultural land.

Gangman Naveenkumar demanded and accepted a sum of ₹1,000 as bribe from the complainant on the instruction of the commercial inspector during trap proceedings.
