Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar handed over compassionate appointment letters to 27 persons at the Secretariat on Wednesday, taking the total number so far to 627.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the Energy Department was committed to protecting the employees performing duties sometimes at grave risk. He noted that jobs were being given to the family members of the employees who died accidentally within four months.
The Minister said 7,000 ‘energy assistants’ in the Ward and Village Secretariats would be trained and their services utilised in the months to come. He said that uninterrupted power supply was being maintained so that the consumers were not put to inconvenience, even during peak hours from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Equal priority was being given to supplying quality power to the domestic, agriculture, industrial, aquaculture, and commercial sectors, he said.
Further, Mr. Ravi Kumar said the coalition government had not increased the power tariffs even by a single rupee, and that the recruitment of 629 Assistant Executive Engineers would be completed soon after due verification of certificates. He observed that some individuals had filed court cases with mala fide intentions, but the government thwarted their attempts by duly countering their allegations.
