Agartala, October 13, 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday said he will raise the issue of implementing the Tiprasa Accord with the central leadership at the earliest, amid questions over the timeline for fulfilling the commitments made ahead of the alliance between the BJP and Tipra Motha Party for the Village Committee (VC) elections.
Responding to a query at a press conference regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s assurance that the accord would be implemented within one month of the completion of the VC elections, Saha said the matter was also a concern for him and assured that he would take it up with the central leadership.
“Look, as I have already mentioned, I am concerned about this matter as well. I will speak with the central leadership as early as possible, and there will be no shortcomings,” the Chief Minister said.
Emphasising that efforts would be made to fulfil the provisions of the accord to the extent possible, Saha added, “Whatever is possible—regarding all the provisions of the Accord—we will do whatever is justified.”
The Chief Minister’s remarks come amid questions over the progress of the accord’s implementation following the conclusion of the VC elections. His response indicated that he intends to discuss the matter with the Centre, although he did not announce a specific date for the commencement of the implementation process.
The Tiprasa Accord has remained a key issue in Tripura’s tribal politics, with expectations among Tiprasa communities regarding the fulfilment of commitments related to their concerns and aspirations. The latest statement is likely to draw attention to the next steps by the state and central leadership in translating the assurances into action.
