Jack Wolff suffered a heavy shunt in the ongoing IAME Warriors Finals weekend, when a rival kart flew over his head.
Wolff – son of Mercedes F1 team boss Toto and former racer Susie – is racing for KR Sport in the IAME Warriors Finals at Leopard Circuit Viterbo in Italy. He is competing in the X30 Mini category for the ultimate prize.
In his Qualifying Heat on Friday, starting from third, Wolff in the #25 kart was in a race-long battle for the win against Spirit Karting’s Nahyl Elgahoudi. On the final lap of the race, with Elgahoudi leading and Wolff chasing, a rival kart flew over his head.
What Happened to Jack Wolff
It was a close fight with as many as six cars involved in the tussle for the victory. DK Academy’s Dimitor Uzunov was third when they went three-wide into the left-hander. Wolff had the inside line, with Elgahoudi on his right and Uzunov on the outside.
Wolff was on the edge of the track when he tried to move towards the racing line and made contact with Elgahoudi, who went airborne for a brief moment. But it was Uzunov who went over the head of the Austrian youngster when he was spun around.
Eye-opening crash in karting involving Toto Wolff’s son, Jack, today. He’s the one the kart goes over… Thankfully, he’s fine, although he did need some minor treatment after walking away. He’s adamant he’s racing again tomorrow, so he’s showing some early tenacity… #F1 https://t.co/ZBaTyIjfrD

Reports Note That Wolff is Well
Wolff stopped immediately and dropped out of his kart when the camera panned away, with officials rushing towards him. Elgahoudi took the win eventually. There is no official word from the organizers or the team about his current situation.
However, some reports state that he is okay after some medical attention and wants to compete in the Super Heat, as well as the Final. Just a month ago, Wolff claimed the IAME Series Italy X30 Mini U10 title at the same venue, as he readies for a step up in the ladder.
It is unclear if either Toto or Susie is at Viterbo or in America, considering that the F1 US GP is taking place at the Circuit of the Americas this weekend, with a title on the line to win for Andrea Kimi Antonelli. At the same time, the weekend is also hosting the F1 Academy round.
