LG Innotek (011070.KS) said Cho Ji-tae, executive vice president and head of its package solution business unit, received the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at the 21st Electronics and IT Day ceremony held at COEX in Seoul on the 13th.
Cho was recognized for introducing artificial intelligence to production lines, lifting the quality and yield of camera modules and strengthening the competitiveness of the semiconductor substrate business. A production specialist who joined LG Innotek in 2004, Cho previously served as head of the company's Vietnam manufacturing unit, head of optical solutions production and head of the optical solutions business unit. Cho applied AI across the entire camera module process, from development to mass production, building an automated system for quality inspection and improvement.
Since moving to lead the package solution business unit late last year, Cho has driven the expansion of the high value-added semiconductor substrate business. The company is pursuing a large-scale investment to more than double its semiconductor substrate production capacity. Cho also contributed to investment in production facilities in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, to job creation and to the localization of key equipment. According to the company, about 80% of its optical equipment investment went to domestic equipment makers.
"I am pleased to receive this award on behalf of all our employees," Cho said. "I will work to help LG Innotek keep growing as a global electronics and IT company."
