A taxi operator who sent abusive messages to an ex-partner has been refused a new licence.
Police Scotland objected to an application to renew a taxi licence held by Craigpark Taxi Service.
An officer told Glasgow’s licensing committee that Steesh Singh, who manages the licence, had engaged in “a course of behaviour which was abusive to his partner or ex-partner”.
She said he had sent abusive text messages, voice notes and phone calls.
Councillors also heard on one occasion he had held the victim “by the shoulders and wrists” and “used his body to block” her from getting past him.
Mr Singh’s sentence included a six-month supervision period and a £600 fine, the officer said. She added he was ordered to refrain from approaching, contacting or communicating with the victim for 18 months.
The applicant told councillors he had been in a long-term relationship and suspected his partner was having an affair.
“It’s not my character to act like that,” he added. “My emotions were all over the place.”
Councillor Alex Wilson, SNP, the committee chairman, said: “I understand people have relationship breakdowns.
“However, you’ve been found guilty of behaving in a manner that is not becoming of someone, especially when it comes down to action against a female.”
Mr Singh said: “I take responsibility for my actions, it’s not something I’m proud of.”
The committee decided to refuse the renewal application.
