TEMERLOH: Fourteen people were arrested, including 10 men who tested positive for methamphetamine, during an integrated multi-agency operation at the Temerloh Rest and Recreation (R&R) stop along the East Coast Expressway last night.
A total of 139 summonses were also issued during the operation.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron said three men were arrested by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department after testing positive for methamphetamine.
He said the National Anti-Drug Agency (Nada) screened 68 people, with seven men testing positive for the same drug.
"Four other arrests involved an Indonesian man and three Bangladeshi nationals suspected of immigration offences.
"All 14 people have been processed," he said when met at the scene.
The four-hour operation, which began at 8pm, involved inspections of 371 vehicles and 388 people.
Also present was Pahang Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Superintendent Suresh Subramaniam.
Nasyim said the most common offence recorded was the use of non-compliant registration number plates, which resulted in 45 summonses, followed by speeding (43 summonses) and expired motor vehicle licences (12 summonses).
He added that the Road Transport Department issued 96 notices, while the Department of Environment issued two compound notices and three notices directing vehicles to undergo re-tests.
