Brian Thomas Jr. rumor reveals 'a lot' of believers that Jaguars will make a trade originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are 4-2 on the regular season through six weeks, and heading into their Week 7 bye. This team is sure to be a playoff contender and likely will be in contention for the AFC South division title by the end of the year as well.
What that also means is that this team will be a buyer at the trade deadline. However, one of the most interesting things about the Jaguars isn't who they're going to look to add, but rather whether Brian Thomas Jr. will actually be traded or not.
ESPN's Dan Graziano, following the team's Week 6 game, revealed a noteworthy update on the perspective of those around the NFL on Thomas. Apparently, "a lot of people" currently believe that Thomas will be traded, with a trade very much in play.
'A lot of people' believe Jaguars will trade Brian Thomas Jr.
"Thomas just might not fit in Jacksonville, and while the Jaguars have indicated they don't have interest in trading him, the Cardinals were saying the same thing about Harrison as recently as two weeks ago," Graziano writes. "There are a lot of people around the league who believe Thomas could have a new home by the trade deadline."
While there's no guarantee the Jaguars, a legitimate Super Bowl contender this season, will look to trade Thomas this season, he's someone who does have a real chance of being traded.
The Arizona Cardinals recently traded Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans, despite initially seeming to turn down all offers for the first-round WR.
Thomas might be on the move this season as well, especially with the belief in Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers, and Josh Cameron in this WR room.
Add in a breakout from Bhayshul Tuten and the quality tight end room, and Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars don't really need Thomas.

This was best seen in the second half of Week 6, as the Jaguars didn't actually have Thomas on the field at all for the entire second half. Thomas' snap count has dwindled, and there's no reason to believe it's going to increase anytime soon.
While they might not trade Thomas until the trade deadline to make sure they don't need him in case of an injury, it would not be a surprise to see Thomas on a new team this season.
He could make sense for the San Francisco 49ers, Las Vegas Raiders, Washington Commanders, New York Giants, and any other fringe playoff contender in need of wide receiver help.
While Jacksonville likely won't trade Thomas to a contender out of the AFC, like the Kansas City Chiefs, there's plenty of NFC teams that would make sense as a landing spot for Thomas.
Graziano revealing that "a lot of people" around the NFL who believe Thomas will be traded shouldn't come as a surprise. Based on the context clues, it might be more surprising if Thomas sticks with the team through the trade deadline.
