The Kaduna state governor, Uba Sani, has donated an ambulance to the Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Kaduna state chapter, to strengthen emergency healthcare services at its hospital, which has provided free medical care to residents for nearly three decades.
The ambulance was presented to the association in Kaduna by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, who commended the governor for supporting initiatives aimed at improving residents’ welfare.
Speaking at the presentation, the executive chairman of the Kaduna State Senior Secondary School Education Board, Dr Suwaiba Shehu Ibrahim, described the donation as a significant intervention that would improve the hospital’s capacity to attend to women, children and other vulnerable members of the community.
She said the FOMWAN Hospital, located along Katuru Road in Kaduna, had remained committed to providing free medical services over the years, adding that the ambulance would strengthen its healthcare delivery.
Ibrahim urged the association to maintain the vehicle properly and ensure its judicious use.
“My advice to them is to maintain it, make judicious use of it and make sure it is kept clean and in proper condition all the time, so that it can continue to serve the people,” she said.
Mamman Lagos said the donation reflected the state government’s commitment to supporting organisations that complement its efforts in providing essential services, particularly healthcare for vulnerable residents.
He said the government recognised FOMWAN’s contribution to healthcare delivery through its free medical services and would continue to encourage initiatives that improve the wellbeing of residents.
The commissioner urged the association to sustain its humanitarian activities, assuring it of the government’s commitment to partnerships that benefit communities.
Receiving the ambulance on behalf of the association, FOMWAN Kaduna state chapter president, Hajia Nafisat Musa Isah, expressed appreciation to the governor, describing the donation as a major boost to its healthcare services.
She added that the association celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2025 but had not received similar support from any government, describing the donation as a historic milestone.
