Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Five clandestine warehouses containing medicines illegally imported into Uzbekistan without quality certificates have been uncovered in Namangan. The preliminary value of the medicines is estimated at 5.2 billion soums.
During an operation, authorities seized 46,865 units of medicines across 287 product types, according to information released about the operation.
The operation was conducted by the Namangan Regional Directorate of the State Security Service in cooperation with the regional customs and internal affairs departments.
According to the findings, three Namangan residents born in 2002, 1997 and 1987 allegedly acted in collusion to organise the storage of large quantities of medicines in five residential premises. The products were intended for subsequent sale.
The seized medicines included Erinit, Hemaza and Fenotropil. All the products were manufactured abroad and brought into Uzbekistan illegally.
Forensic chemical and commodity examinations have been ordered to analyse the seized medicines.
Pre-investigation inquiries are ongoing.
