After years of providing streaming guides to audiences, JustWatch has debuted its own streaming service. Today, October 20, marks the official launch of JustWatch TV, which lets people watch free movies, rent new and classic films, and subscribe to an ad-free streaming library. JustWatch TV has just launched with 30 global providers, including Bleecker Street, Cineverse, Fremantle, New Regency, Paramount, Vortex Media, LEONINE Studios, SND, and Altitude.
JustWatch TV has already launched to 50 million people worldwide who use JustWatch's streaming guide. David Croyé, Founder and CEO of the JustWatch Group, said in a statement that the launch of JustWatch TV "marks the most important new development in our company’s twelve-year history, and it’s only the start.”
"We called our company JustWatch because we wanted to make it easier for people to find and ‘just watch’ the movies and shows they love," Croyé continued. "From the beginning, our vision was to create a single platform that directs fans to all of their entertainment options in one place. JustWatch TV will help fill in the gaps and will make it easier for the massive JustWatch audience to discover and watch great movies and series, including those hard-to-find titles, right from the app itself.”
JustWatch TV can be accessed within the JustWatch app/website, as well as TV platforms like Android TV, Google TV, Apple TV, LG TV, and Roku. More platforms will add JustWatch TV soon.
What can you watch on JustWatch TV?
Stream a variety of free and rentable titles now
JustWatch TV offers users three ways to stream:
- JustWatch TV Free: A free, ad-supported selection of titles, similar to Tubi, Pluto TV, and Plex.
- JustWatch TV Store: A growing collection of new and popular movies to rent now available in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. More markets will follow.
- JustWatch TV Plus: You can upgrade your account so you can stream over 300 titles without any ads. You'll also get 10% off on hundreds of rentals in the JustWatch TV Store.
Free films on JustWatch TV include A24 hits and classics like Under the Skin, Green Room, Aftersun, Swiss Army Man, First Reformed, and Red Rocket. If you're a huge A24 fan like me and want to stream titles for free, this new service is for you.
Users can also rent a variety of must-see titles, including Tropic Thunder, Minority Report, Airplane!, School of Rock, The Godfather, Saving Private Ryan, Scream, and Interstellar. The Plus tier costs $3.99/month and includes a 7-day free trial. A lifetime subscription only costs $49.99 in a one-time payment.
Is JustWatch TV worth using?
JustWatch TV has started off strong
Since JustWatch TV just launched, ironically, there aren't many TV shows available to watch. However, JustWatch said in a statement that they are already "hard at work bringing more content partners and titles on board." The current selection of free and rentable films makes this service a worthy newcomer to the streaming market. Some of my favorite movies are already featured on the platform, so it certainly has my attention.
JustWatch TV is also easy to use. The service organizes its available titles by free and paid status, which should be especially helpful for those looking for free movies to stream. Additionally, the platform features a row of its most popular titles in each category.
Thanks to JustWatch, each title listing even includes IMDb ratings, which can help users determine whether a movie is worth watching. On top of that, the platform highlights a "Movie of the Day" on the homepage, which should help users decide what to stream.
JustWatch TV has ultimately launched with a strong foundation, featuring a healthy, enticing balance of free and rentable content that is easy to navigate. As someone who increasingly looks to free, ad-supported platforms to watch my favorite films and shows, this new service has found a place in my streaming library.
