The Accra Circuit Court has given police prosecutors more time to complete the filing of documents to be relied upon as evidence against Augustine Okechukwu Maazi, the Nigerian national on trial for attempted robberies near some banks within the Labone precinct.
The 49-year-old Nigerian has pleaded not guilty to eight counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery for his alleged role in robbery attacks in Tema, Spintex, and Labone.
According to the prosecution's facts, Maazi and five others belong to a robbery syndicate that trails and robs victims after bank transactions.
The syndicate reportedly operates across Côte d'Ivoire and Togo and had been under police surveillance since May 2026, when they attacked victims along the Spintex Road.
The police gunned down two suspects following an exchange of gunfire in Labone on August 13, 2026.
Three other suspects remain at large. The case has been adjourned to November 5, 2026, for a case management conference.
