Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested 44 miscreants allegedly harassing road users along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
The RRS disclosed this in a post on Facebook on Thursday, stating that the raid was carried out on Wednesday targeting criminal hideouts and blackspots particularly around Marwa Bus Stop, Lekki.
According to the squad, the operation was carried out in line with the directive of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, following several complaints from residents and road users about the activities of the suspects in the area.
The Commander of the RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, assured residents and road users that the squad would continue to monitor the area to ensure safety and prevent criminal activities.
The suspects have been transferred to the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce).
