Riyadh – Two explosions were heard in Riyadh on Saturday, according to AFP, following a warning from Saudi Civil Defense about a "hostile aerial attack."
An AFP journalist reported hearing two loud explosions a few minutes after residents received the warning, which was lifted shortly afterward.
The warning stated: "The area is under a hostile aerial threat. Please remain calm and stay indoors or in a safe place away from windows and doors."
Civil Defense also issued similar warnings in Wadi al-Dawasir, south of the capital, and Najran in the south of the kingdom.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia announced it had intercepted a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group toward Riyadh, and a drone in the kingdom's Eastern Province.
The Houthis have escalated their attacks on Saudi Arabia this month, including strikes on Riyadh airport, one of which killed 13 people and injured hundreds more on October 10.
