Gameday is here as the Kentucky Wildcats are looking to pick up another SEC road win in Norman over the Oklahoma Sooners
Sitting at 5-1 on the season, the Cats and Will Stein have shocked the world and are now in the mix for this year’s College Football Playoff. A win today will only further cement that, but they’ll have to do so as touchdown underdogs in one of the hardest places to play in the sport.
Oklahoma enters the game after a massive win over Texas in the Red River Rivalry. The Sooners’ defense is the real deal and may be the second- or first-best defensive unit that Kentucky will face this season.
This game comes down to controlling the pace and executing well. With a defense like the Sooners, getting down early could be a hard task to overcome. That also means limiting turnovers. The Cats’ offense has been solid at that so far this season, and needs to continue today to have any hope of pulling off another big road victory as an underdog.
On defense, it also comes down to containing John Mateer. Mobile quarterbacks have given the Cats some fits this season. Can they stop him from creating explosive plays with his legs? If so, the Cats should have a chance to pull this one off.
Nothing like important football games in mid-October. Let’s see if the Cats can go get this win.
