NASHUA - The Winnacunnet High School boys soccer team closed the regular season with a 2-0 Division I victory over Bishop Guertin on Thursday, Oct. 22 at Stellos Stadium.
Winnacunnet finished with a record of 7-5-4. Winnacunnet head coach Nick Rowe believes the Warriors will be seeded anywhere from seventh to 10th.
"We knew coming in we could somewhat control our playoff seeding as there were a large group of teams that could be tied on rating," Rowe said. "We talked in practice the last two days about getting geared up for the tournament and the team responded today. This was a playoff-type atmosphere as both us and Guertin were battling for seeding.”
Curren Tabor converted an assist from Tatum Clifford just 5 minutes into the match, giving Winnacunnet a 1-0 lead. Winnacunnet added an insurance goal in the second half when Cal Cook, on an assist from Clive Newman, scored off a corner kick.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jed Ziolkowski had 12 saves for the shutout.
