2027 Cayman Watercolours calendar now available

The 2027 Cayman Watercolours Calendar, which raises funds for local charities, is now available for purchase.

This is the 16th edition of the popular calendar, which depicts various Cayman Islands scenes taken from original painting by local artists.

A launch reception hosted by Governor Jane Owen at Government House on 24 Sept., introduced the calendar and served to thank the contributing artists. All the original artwork from the calendar was on display at the launch event.

Tim Couris, one of the organisers, said, “We are so very grateful for Kennedy Gallery, which is displaying and selling the artwork until the end of the year.”

He also said that 100% of all calendar sales and original artwork purchases will be donated to the National Children’s Voluntary Organisation and to Jasmine.

Engaging local artists

Cayman Watercolours Charitable Trust, which was formed in April 2012, was the brainchild of Julia Hedges and continues to be organised and produced by Caroline Courtis, Tim Courtis and Kerrie McMillan.

Since that time, the organisation has donated more than $1.2 million to local charities through the proceeds of the calendar and the original artwork sales. About 3,000 calendars are sold each year.

To produce the calendar and engage the local artist community, each year, local artists, ranging from professional to recreational, donate quality watercolour artwork. Cayman Watercolours Charitable Trust also includes artwork from student artists from local high schools.

Corporate sponsors have also partnered with the organisation to cover the printing, shipping and production costs each year.

Where to purchase

Cayman Watercolours calendars can be purchased for $20 each at Jasmine and the offices of the National Children’s Voluntary Organisation, as well as local vendors that donate shelf space to sell the calendars with no mark-up.

Local vendors include: Red Sail Sports, The Book Nook, Next Chapter, Paperman’s in the Strand and Kennedy Gallery.
