Borussia Dortmund is set to host Eintracht Frankfurt in their next Bundesliga fixture on Saturday at the Signal Iduna Park.
Dortmund arrive in strong domestic form, occupying second place in the Bundesliga without a league defeat so far. They have won four and drawn two of their six matches, although back-to-back stalemates against Werder Bremen (2-2) and Union Berlin (0-0) slowed their progress. Niko Kovač’s men responded well in Europe, though, beating Sabah FK 2-1 in the Champions League in midweek. Their defensive record has been particularly impressive, with only four goals conceded across all competitions this season.
Borussia Dortmund team news
Dortmund head into today’s match with a difficult team-selection problem, as several important players are unavailable through significant injuries.
Coach Niko Kovač will have to manage without Emre Can and Giannis Konstantelias, who are both out with serious ligament damage. Kostas Karetsas is also missing after hurting ankle ligaments in the game against Union Berlin, while Justin Lerma continues to struggle with a muscle issue.
The brighter news is that nobody else picked up an injury in the midweek European win over Sabah FK. Leading scorer Serhou Guirassy should start up front in strong form, having scored twice in the important victory in Baku.
Kovač still has several useful options available, and promising young players such as Ethan Nwaneri, Joane Gadou, and Maximilian Beier are all in the running for places in the starting side.
Borussia Dortmund predicted lineup
