PCISCEU says it learned through an ongoing investigation that the man had allegedly purchased fentanyl on the dark web and was having it delivered to Pictou.
Investigators say they intercepted and seized a package on Oct. 14 containing 28 grams of a purple substance resembling small pieces of candy, which tested presumptively positive for fentanyl.
The RCMP says that Nicholas David Kelly, 30, collected the package and was safely arrested on Oct. 16. He has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (fentanyl) and Trafficking (fentanyl).
Kelly appeared in Pictou Provincial Court on Oct. 19 and was remanded into custody. His next court appearance was set for Oct. 21.
This investigation has been supported by the Pictou County District RCMP, Pictou County General Investigation Section, and the Antigonish/Guysborough Street Crime Enforcement Unit.
