The New York Knicks have added a former Los Angeles Lakers first-round pick to their depth.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Knicks have signed former Lakers forward Dalton Knecht to a two-way NBA contract.
Knecht signing with the Knicks comes a few days after the Lakers waived him. Now, Knecht is getting a fresh start with the Knicks after signing this new deal.

Knecht is an intriguing player for the Knicks to be adding to their roster. The 25-year-old is a former first-round pick, as the Lakers selected him with the 17th overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft. He has struggled to break out in the NBA but will now be aiming to change that with New York.
There is no real harm in the Knicks signing Knecht to this two-way contract. He will now give them a young former first-round pick who could still have the potential to hit a new level. Perhaps getting a change of scenery with the Knicks could help him do just that.
In 132 career NBA games over two seasons, Knecht has averaged 0.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds, and 7.1 points per game. It will be interesting to see how he can improve upon these career stats after signing with the Knicks from here.
