President John Dramani Mahama has visited former President John Agyekum Kufuor at his residence to enquire about his well-being and exchange views on issues affecting Ghana and the international community.
The meeting took place on Monday, October 19, with President Mahama later sharing details of the engagement on his Facebook page.
“I passed by the residence of President J.A Kufuor this afternoon to check on him and find out how he’s doing and also discuss some national and international issues,” he wrote.
Photographs accompanying the post showed the two former political rivals smiling and engaging during the visit.
The meeting brought together the sitting President and his predecessor from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who governed Ghana from 2001 to 2009.
The engagement also offered an opportunity for the two leaders to interact outside the formal setting of official state functions.
Mr Kufuor, who served as Ghana’s President for two terms, handed over power to the late President John Evans Atta Mills in January 2009, following the NDC’s victory in the 2008 general election.
President Mahama, who first became President in 2012, returned to office after winning the 2024 general election.
