The Kentucky Wildcats and Vanderbilt Commodores have released their first injury report ahead of their Week 8 matchup Saturday night at Kroger Field.
The big news is that standout linebacker Sam Greene is doubtful to play. Greene has played in every game this season after recovering from an ACL tear suffered toward the end of last season. Hopefully, this is not a significant issue and he’ll be able to return coming out of the Wildcats’ Week 9 bye.
Running back CJ Baxter, who dressed for the Oklahoma game but was held out, is listed as probable, so he should play.
Wide receiver Nic Anderson, who left Saturday’s win in Norman late due to an injury, is listed as questionable, so there’s a 50-50 shot he plays for the time being.
Linebacker Tavion Wallace, who’s missed the last three games, tweeted on Wednesday that he’d returned to practice, so that could be a boost to a position that’s been thin. Wallace is officially listed as probable.
Fellow linebacker Antawn Smith, who was injured at South Carolina and missed the last two games, has been ruled out for this week.
Cornerback Grant Grayton remains out.
Cornerback Jaden Smith, who was also injured at South Carolina and hasn’t played since, has been ruled out.
Defensive tackle Kalen Edwards is probable.
Defensive end Tyler Thomas is questionable.
Finally, long-snapper Cole Marszalek is listed as doubtful to play.
For Vanderbilt, starting defensive end Brian Allen Jr. is listed as out.
Backup quarterback Blaze Berlowitz, who opened the season as the starter before being benched, injured his collarbone in Week 6 vs. Ole Miss and remains listed as out.
Backup defensive end Haydon Brey is probable.
Backup linebacker Josiah Broxton is doubtful to play.
Backup safeties Dontae Carter and Devin Chandler are listed as questionable.
Backup cornerback Cayden Daniels is probable.
Backup guard Mitchell Smith is probable.
Finally, defensive lineman Aaron Bryant, linebacker Jamison Curtis, offensive lineman Gunner Givens, defensive lineman Nikhil Jefferson, cornerback Jaylin Lackey, and wide receiver Kahden Smith are out this week.
