The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has signed a sponsorship agreement with Vital Group to promote hockey in Pakistan and encourage greater participation among young players.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Islamabad, attended by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, PHF President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Vital Group’s Mian Asad, national team players, and former Olympians.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ahsan Iqbal said private-sector support was essential for developing hockey and providing financial stability to players so they could focus on their performance.
He also offered the national hockey team the use of National Sports City in Narowal as a permanent training base, noting that the facility offers international-standard infrastructure for 14 sports.
Iqbal said the government was working to improve training facilities and provide players with the resources needed to compete internationally.
PHF President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani described the sponsorship agreement as an important step toward strengthening hockey and creating more opportunities for young talent.
Meanwhile, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said the government had restored departmental sports and was working to develop the Pakistan Hockey League.
He added that a large number of Dutch players would be available for the proposed league, which is expected to help strengthen the country’s hockey structure.
