The Oakleigh Grammar farewell for the Class of 2026 brought students, families and staff together for a Doxology and a Year 12 assembly honouring the graduating cohort’s school journey.
Principal Mark Robertson and Board Chairman Chris Damatopoulos presented Certificate of Achievement Awards to students who achieved outstanding results in their VCE Units 3 and 4 subjects, the school said.
The Oakleigh Grammar farewell gave the Year 12 students one of their last milestones before they sit their final examinations, as the school community recognised their commitment, perseverance and dedication to study.
Oakleigh Grammar farewell begins with Doxology
The Oakleigh Grammar farewell opened with a Doxology, a thanksgiving service grounded in the school’s Orthodox Christian faith. Students, families and staff gave thanks for the cohort’s journey and reflected on the opportunities and responsibilities ahead.
After the service and a morning tea, the formal Year 12 Farewell Assembly recognised the class’s achievements and acknowledged the support of the wider school community.

During the assembly, the Class of 2026 also thanked the teachers and staff who supported them through school. Students expressed their appreciation for the guidance, encouragement and care that shaped their learning and growth.
Earlier this year, Greek City Times reported on Emanuel Comino’s talk to the school’s Year 12 students on the Parthenon Marbles and cultural heritage.
Prep students present sashes

In a long-standing tradition, Prep students presented a graduation sash to each Year 12 student as they crossed the stage. The custom brought together students at opposite ends of their time at the school.
Video messages from key people who had positively influenced the students during the Oakleigh Grammar farewell also gave the cohort a chance to look back on the friendships, shared experiences and milestones of their final year.
Robertson said the occasion showed the strong emotional ties between the graduating students and their school.
“The Year 12 Leavers Assembly reflected the strong emotional ties our graduating students have with their school. The morning commenced with a Doxology and Thanksgiving Service, followed by morning tea and concluded with the formal Assembly. The Assembly provided an opportunity for reflection, laughter and of course tears shared with parents, staff and the wider student body. Poignant moments included our prep students presenting the graduating cohort with a 2026 graduation sash memento and some video messages from key people who had positively impacted their school years.”
Mark Robertson, Principal, Oakleigh Grammar

As the students prepare for their final examinations, the school said the Oakleigh Grammar farewell celebrated their growth, character and contributions, guided by its values of Humility, Aspiration, Respect and Kindness.
Oakleigh Grammar, a coeducational school from ELC to Year 12 founded in Orthodox Christian values and Hellenic traditions, congratulated the Class of 2026 and wished every student success in their examinations and beyond.
