After a viral social media post showed Golden State Warriors forward and future Hall of Famer Draymond Green seemingly gaining weight, the longtime veteran couldn't help but respond.
Green typically doesn't stay quiet about anything involving him, especially something that blew up this way.
It was even more obvious he'd respond because of what was being said. Green isn't someone who slacks off or shows up to camp out of shape, so he wanted to put that notion to rest instantly.
Recently, he said many factors contributed to how he looked.
However, he ultimately doesn't care how anyone feels about it, taking a personal shot at those who made the comments.
“I had a sweater tied around my waist,” Green said, H/T Heavy. “And I had my fanny pack tied around my waist and I had my glasses pulling down (shirt collar). Everything on my shirt pulled it down. I know you went crazy, and I really don’t give a damn.”
“I’m actually in pretty decent shape for where I want to be right now,” he added. “But I did look crazy on the thing with all my stuff being pulled down and sagging down. Needless to say, I really don’t give a damn what y’all say because half the people who are saying something look ridiculous. So, I really don’t give a damn.”
As for how this impacts the Warriors, there's obviously hope that Green isn't coming into camp out of shape. That's not going to be really seen until the start of the regular season, though he still has a couple of days before things get going here.
It's also not crazy to see some players come into camp out of shape, especially at his age.
However, Green has never been someone who does that, so it feels a bit unfair to put that on him at this stage of his career.
