PETALING JAYA: Police arrested six men in Penang over the suspected abuse of an Indonesian woman, who sustained burns across her body.
Seberang Perai Utara police chief Anuar Abdul Rahman said the arrests of the six suspects, including the victim’s employer, were made following a raid on a tyre shop in Butterworth this evening.
“The victim was allegedly abused by her employer in Kampung Tumbok, Tanjong Sepat, Selangor, on Oct 16,” he said in a statement.
Anuar said the raid was jointly conducted by the Selangor police criminal investigation department and Kuala Langat police, with assistance from the Penang police forensic unit.
He said the case is being investigated for trafficking of migrants under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.
