While the NFL world is still reeling from the latest update about Jalen Hurts and his blood clot issues, Skip Bayless’ reaction has more to do with his Dallas Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys suffered a crushing defeat in Week 5 of the NFL season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Skip Bayless, like most Cowboys fans, was unhappy about the loss in the aftermath. The team faced serious criticism from the mainstream media as well as from fans online.
Due to a very unfortunate circumstance, one of the Cowboys’ division rivals has suffered a serious setback. The Philadelphia Eagles will be without Jalen Hurts for the foreseeable future following a blood clot issue.
And while a rival’s injury is not something to celebrate, Bayless has pointed out how it will help Dallas while acknowledging their terrible loss.
Skip Bayless points out how the Cowboys’ chances of winning the division have improved despite their terrible loss
The New York Giants currently have the best record in the NFC East, but the Eagles and Cowboys are both thought of as the better team. If Hurts faces extended time out, though, that is likely to severely harm Philly’s chances of winning the division.
Skip may be a Cowboys fan, but he is also a sports analyst overall. So his reaction to Hurts’ potentially terrible health issue being about the Cowboys was a little surprising, to say the least.
“My Cowboys can’t lose for winning,” Bayless wrote on X. “The worse they play, the better their chances of winning the NFC Least. Now Jalen Hurts is gone, along with Eagles’ chances. We just lost to 0-4 TB yet we’re prohibitive favorites. Wowboys!”
This does feel like it is a little bit in poor taste, but the rivalries in the NFC East do run deep. Football can be a cruel sport at times. While every NFL fan will be hoping Hurts is okay in the long run, Bayless is likely not the only one seemingly thinking about the benefit to his team.
