The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has introduced new guidelines for installing Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) smart meters to improve network connectivity and reduce technical issues.
Under the revised instructions, SIM cards for smart meters will be selected according to the telecom operator providing the strongest signal coverage in each urban and rural area.
FESCO has directed all its operational circles to assess local mobile network signals before choosing SIM cards for AMI meters. The company aims to ensure that installed meters maintain stable connections with communication networks.
According to company officials, the new process is expected to reduce cases of smart meters shutting down or losing connectivity, helping improve service reliability for electricity consumers.
The instructions have been issued to all FESCO circles, and implementation is already underway.
